orres Mas La Plana is a distinguished Spanish red wine produced by Familia Torres in the Penedès region of Catalonia. Crafted exclusively from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, this wine has garnered international acclaim since its debut in 1970, notably triumphing over renowned Bordeaux wines in the 1979 Paris Wine Olympiad.
The Mas La Plana vineyard spans 29 hectares in the heart of Penedès. Established in 1966, the vineyard’s deep, dark, and yellowish-brown soils, rich in sand, stones, and gravel subsoil, provide an ideal terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine undergoes fermentation in stainless steel and oak foudres, followed by aging in new French oak barrels for 18 months, resulting in a wine of remarkable depth and complexity.
Appearance: Deep ruby red.
Aroma: Intense and complex, with notes of blackberries, black cherries, and subtle hints of sandalwood and incense.
Palate: Full-bodied and well-structured, featuring flavours of crushed blackberries, brandied cherries, and star anise, complemented by a notably peppery finish.
This wine pairs exceptionally well with:
Grilled tenderloin
Roast rack of lamb
Porterhouse veal chops
