Hinch 12-Year-Old Amarone Cask is a premium Irish whiskey that undergoes a unique finishing process in Amarone wine casks, adding layers of rich fruitiness and depth to the whiskey’s profile. Produced by Hinch Distillery in County Down, Northern Ireland, this expression starts as a carefully aged blend of malt and grain whiskey, matured for 12 years in bourbon barrels before being transferred to Amarone red wine casks. The result is a whiskey with a beautifully balanced mix of sweet, spicy, and fruity notes, bottled at 46% ABV and non-chill filtered to preserve its full character.
Nose: Ripe red berries, dark cherries, and oak spice, with hints of vanilla and chocolate.
Palate: Velvety smooth with flavours of blackcurrants, dried figs, honey, and dark chocolate, complemented by a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Finish: Long and warming, with lingering notes of red wine tannins, toasted oak, and sweet spice.
To complement the rich fruit, spice, and wine-influenced depth of Hinch 12-Year-Old Amarone Cask, a medium-to-full-bodied cigar with notes of dark fruit, cocoa, and spice works best.
Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro – A full-bodied cigar with dark chocolate, espresso, and dried fruit, complementing the whiskey’s Amarone cask influence.
A.J. Fernandez New World Oscuro – Features earthy, peppery, and cocoa notes, which pair beautifully with the whiskey’s bold red fruit and spice.
Davidoff Nicaragua Toro – Offers a refined blend of cedar, leather, and subtle sweetness, enhancing the whiskey’s oak and wine cask complexity.
